Verify anything factual before using the category in a live game.\n\n## Regenerate or refresh the draft\n\nClick **Refresh clue** beside an individual clue when only that clue needs another version. The other four clues stay in the draft.\n\nTo start over with the same prompt, click **Generate again**. You can also change the prompt first when you want a different topic, tone, or difficulty.\n\nBuzzinga Pro includes up to 50 AI runs per day. Each successful category generation, regeneration, and individual clue refresh counts as one run. After the Daily Wager is found, the player or team tells the host how much they want to wager. The host enters that amount before revealing the clue.\n\nThe minimum wager is 5 points. The maximum is the greater of:\n\n- The player or team's current score\n- 1,000 points in Round 1, 2,000 in Round 2, or 3,000 in Round 3\n\nThis means a player or team with a low or negative score can still wager up to the round maximum.\n\n## Set an optional countdown\n\nOpen [**Game Settings**](https://play.buzzinga.io/settings) and find **Daily Wager Countdown** to choose how long the player has to respond after the clue is revealed. Set the countdown to **0** if you do not want a time limit.\n\n## What happens during the game\n\n1. The host opens the clue marked as a Daily Wager.\n2. Buzzinga identifies the player who currently has control. In a team game, the wager uses that team's score.\n3. The player or team tells the host how much they want to wager.\n4. The host enters the amount using the game controls, either on the game board or in the Host Controller.\n5. After the wager is submitted, Buzzinga reveals the clue and starts the Daily Wager countdown if one is configured.\n6. The host marks the response correct or incorrect. A correct response adds the wager to the player or team's score; an incorrect response subtracts it.\n\nOnly the selected player or team answers a Daily Wager, so the regular buzzers are not used for that clue. Daily Wagers are always scored using the wager, even if your settings do not normally deduct points for incorrect responses.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/help/in-game-daily-wager.jpg\" alt=\"In-game Daily Wager controls where the host enters the player's wager\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\n## Test the clue\n\nPreview the board before hosting and open each Daily Wager clue. Confirm that the wager prompt appears before the clue and that any image, audio, or video works after the wager is submitted.\n\nIf you use teams, the Host Controller, or a Daily Wager countdown, test with those same settings so you know where the host's wager controls will appear during the event.\n"

In team games, the captain submits one wager and one response for the entire team.\n\nIf your players are using physical buzzers instead of joining the room on their phones, see [Using physical buzzers](/help/physical-buzzers/) for the separate Final Wager Round submission flow. The host can also select a player or team and enter a wager or response on their behalf.\n\nBefore the game, open [**Game Settings**](https://play.buzzinga.io/settings) and find **Final Wager Countdown** if you want to limit how long players have to submit a response. Set it to **0** to remove the countdown.\n\n## Collect player wagers\n\n1. Open the **Final Wager Round** and click **Show category**.\n2. Buzzinga displays the category while keeping the clue hidden.\n3. Each player submits a wager from their phone. In a team game, the captain submits for the team.\n4. Watch the submission status on the game board. If a player is taking too long or will not participate, select the **X** beside their name to exclude them from the round.\n\nThe minimum wager is 0 points. The maximum is the greater of:\n\n- The player or team's current score\n- 1,000 points\n\nThis means a player or team with 1,000 points or less can wager up to 1,000. A player or team with more than 1,000 can wager up to their current score.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/help/collect-player-wagers.jpg\" alt=\"Final Wager Round category screen showing the players who still need to submit wagers\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\n## Collect final responses\n\nAfter you click **Show clue**, the clue appears and players can submit their responses from their phones. In a team game, the captain responds for the entire team.\n\nYou can play or stop the final-round music while players are answering. If you configured a Final Wager Countdown, select the timer button when you are ready to start the countdown. When time expires, players who have not submitted a response are recorded as having no response. Partial responses are omitted.\n\nThe host can select a player or team to enter a response for them or mark their response blank. When everyone has responded—or the remaining responses have been marked blank—click **Show answers**.\n\n## Reveal and score the round\n\nBuzzinga walks through the players or teams one at a time, beginning with the lowest score before the wager was applied.\n\nFor each player or team:\n\n1. Reveal their response.\n2. Reveal their wager.\n3. Mark the response **Correct** or **Incorrect**.\n\nBuzzinga adds the wager for a correct response and subtracts it for an incorrect response, then updates the score automatically. After every response has been scored, reveal the correct response and review the final standings.\n\n## Test the complete round\n\nPreview the board and confirm that the category, clue, correct response, and any media appear as expected. Before a live event, also run a short test game using the same setup your players will use—especially if you will have teams, a response countdown, or a mix of devices.\n\nAdd at least one player to the room before testing the complete Final Wager Round. A player needs to submit a wager and response for you to test the full flow.\n"

Start with it instead of creating a spreadsheet from scratch.\n\n1. Go to the [Buzzinga homepage](https://play.buzzinga.io) and edit a board.\n2. Click the **gear icon** at the top of the board editor.\n3. Select **Download CSV**.\n4. Click **Download CSV template**, or choose **copy this Google sheet** if you prefer to work in Google Sheets.\n\nYou can also click **Download this board as CSV** to use one of your existing boards as a starting point.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/help/download-the-csv-template.jpg\" alt=\"Download CSV window with options to download the current board, download the CSV template, or copy the Google Sheet\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\n## Understand the spreadsheet\n\nEach row represents one clue. A board can contain two or three standard rounds with six category columns and five clue rows in each round, plus one Final Wager Round clue.\n\nThe columns most people need are:\n\n| Column | What to enter |\n| --- | --- |\n| `round` | `1`, `2`, or `3`. Use `final` for the Final Wager Round. |\n| `col` | The category's position from `1` through `6`. |\n| `cat` | The category title. Repeat it for each clue in that category. |\n| `catDescription` | An optional category description. |\n| `row` | The clue's position from `1` through `5`. |\n| `customValue` | An optional whole-number point value from `1` through `9999`. Leave it blank to use the round's normal values. |\n| `clueText` | The clue shown to players. |\n| `correctResponse` | The response shown to the host. |\n| `isDailyDouble` | Enter `TRUE` to make the clue a Daily Wager; otherwise use `FALSE`. |\n\nFor the Final Wager Round row, enter `final` under `round`, then complete `cat`, `clueText`, and `correctResponse`. Leave `col`, `row`, and `customValue` blank.\n\nThe remaining columns support advanced clue options:\n\n- `clueType` and `answerType` accept `TEXT`, `IMAGE`, `AUDIO`, or `VIDEO`.\n- `topCaption`, `bottomCaption`, `answerTopCaption`, and `answerBottomCaption` add captions around media.\n- `buzzerActivationMode` accepts `none`, `default`, `automatic`, or `manual`.\n- `isAudioOnly` and `isAnswerAudioOnly` accept `TRUE` or `FALSE`.\n\nFor image and audio content, use the media URL in `clueText` or `correctResponse`. For video, use the YouTube URL. The CSV stores links and content settings; it does not contain the media files themselves.\n\n## Prepare the CSV file\n\n- Keep the template's header row and column names unchanged.\n- Leave unused categories or clues blank instead of removing the template structure.\n- Use a spreadsheet application's CSV export instead of copying the cells into a text file. This correctly handles commas, quotation marks, and line breaks inside clues.\n- Save or download the file as a UTF-8 `.csv` file. In Google Sheets, choose **File → Download → Comma Separated Values (.csv)**.\n- Review media URLs and confirm that anyone hosting the board will still be able to access them.\n\n## Import a CSV file\n\nCSV files are imported into the board you are currently editing. Importing does not create a new board.\n\n1. Create a blank board or edit the board you want to update.\n2. Click the **gear icon** and select **Upload CSV**.\n3. Click the upload area to choose your `.csv` file, or drag and drop the file into the window.\n4. Wait while Buzzinga validates the file.\n5. If the board already contains content, check the confirmation box and click **Upload**.\n\n> Importing replaces all categories and clues in every standard round, along with the Final Wager Round content. The board's name and settings are not replaced.\n\nIf you may need the current version later, [duplicate the board](/help/duplicating-a-board/) or export it before importing the new file.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/help/upload-from-csv.jpg\" alt=\"Upload from CSV window with a validated file, replacement confirmation, and Upload button\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\n## Export a board\n\n1. Edit the board you want to export.\n2. Click the **gear icon** and select **Download CSV**.\n3. Click **Download this board as CSV**.\n\nBuzzinga downloads a file named after your board. It includes the categories and clues from every standard round, the Final Wager Round, category descriptions, custom clue values, Daily Wagers, media types and captions, and clue-specific buzzer settings.\n\nThe export does not include board settings, joined players, teams, scores, or game history. Use it to edit board content in bulk, move content into another board, or keep a spreadsheet backup.\n\n## Fix import errors\n\nBuzzinga checks the file before replacing your board. If it finds a problem, the upload window identifies the affected CSV row or board location when possible.\n\nCommon problems include:\n\n- A header was renamed or removed. Download a fresh template and copy your content into it.\n- A row contains more or fewer fields than the header, often because a comma or quotation mark was edited outside a spreadsheet application.\n- `clueType` or `answerType` contains something other than `TEXT`, `IMAGE`, `AUDIO`, or `VIDEO`.\n- `buzzerActivationMode` contains something other than `none`, `default`, `automatic`, or `manual`.\n- A custom clue value is not a whole number from `1` through `9999`.\n- A round, category column, or clue row is in the wrong position.\n\nCorrect the reported row in your spreadsheet, download it as a CSV again, and retry the upload. If you are unsure which field is causing the error, compare the file's headers and values with a newly downloaded Buzzinga template.\n"

If you use the same computer, open a separate browser window that will not be displayed or shared with the audience.\n3. Open [**Host Controller**](https://play.buzzinga.io/host-controller) directly, or open the main menu and select **Host Controller**.\n4. Keep the main game board visible to players and use the controller to run the game.\n\n## What you can control\n\nThe host controller and audience game board stay synchronized automatically. Actions taken from the controller appear on the game board, so you do not need to interact with the audience screen.\n\nFrom the host controller, you can:\n\n- select categories and clues;\n- see correct responses privately;\n- manage buzz-ins and mark responses correct or incorrect;\n- adjust scores and control clue media;\n- move through rounds and finish the game.\n\n## Hide the host controls on the audience screen\n\nIf the host controls are still visible on the audience game board, select the gear icon in the host controller to open the **Settings** menu, then select **Hide host controls on Main Screen**.\n\nTo display them again, select the gear icon in the host controller and choose **Show host controls on Main Screen**. You can also select **Show host controls on this screen** in the same menu on the audience game board.\n\n## Keep audio on the audience screen\n\nGame audio should play from the audience game board. If audio also plays from the host controller, select its gear icon to open the **Settings** menu, then select **Mute all audio on this page**. This prevents duplicate sound or echo while keeping music, sound effects, and media audible to the audience.\n\n## Choose your setup\n\n### In person\n\nDisplay the main game board on the projector or television. Keep the host controller open on a phone, tablet, or laptop that only the host can see.\n\n### On Zoom\n\nShare only the browser tab or window containing the main game board. Keep the host controller in an unshared tab or on a second device so participants do not see the controls or responses.\n\nSee [Hosting a game on Zoom](/help/hosting-on-zoom/) for the rest of the meeting setup.\n\n## Test it before the game\n\n- Confirm that both views are logged in to the same account.\n- Make sure the public game board is the only view shown to players.\n- Check that the host can comfortably see and use the controller.\n- Confirm that actions taken from the controller immediately update the audience game board.\n- Make sure game audio plays only from the audience screen.\n- Run through a few clues before participants join.\n"

They can be wired or wireless, but each buzzer must send a unique key so Buzzinga can tell the players apart.\n\nNumber keys are a good choice because Buzzinga uses several letter keys as shortcuts while you host. For example, you could map the red buzzer to **1**, blue to **2**, and green to **3**.\n\nThe Basic plan supports up to three players in total. Buzzinga Pro and Buzzinga Teams support an unlimited number of players.\n\n## Add a player and detect their buzzer\n\n1. Connect the buzzers or their USB receiver to the computer that will run Buzzinga.\n2. Open the [Buttons & Buzzers page](https://play.buzzinga.io/buttons-and-buzzers).\n3. Enter the player's name.\n4. Click **Detect Keys**.\n5. Press that player's physical buzzer. Its key will appear under **New keys**.\n6. Click **Done** to add the player.\n7. Repeat these steps for every player.\n\nBuzzinga will not let two players use the same key. If the detected key is already assigned, reset the selection and press a different buzzer.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/buzzer-teams.png\" alt=\"Players with physical buzzers configured on the Buzzinga Buttons and Buzzers page\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\n## Test the buzzers\n\nPress each buzzer from the **Buttons & Buzzers** page and confirm that Buzzinga registers it for the correct player. You can edit a player's key bindings, change their buzzer sound, or remove them from the table.\n\nDuring the game, keep at least one Buzzinga browser window active on the computer connected to the buzzers. This can be the main game board or the Host Controller. If Buzzinga says it is not listening for physical buzzers, click the game window to make it active again.\n\nBuzzinga remembers the physical-buzzer players on that computer. At your next game, choose **Add players from previous game** if you want to restore the same players and key bindings.\n\n## Play the game\n\nPhysical-buzzer players appear on the game board like players who joined from their phones. When buzzing opens, Buzzinga listens for their assigned keypresses, identifies who buzzed first, and lets the host score the response normally.\n\nIf you use teams and **Auto Balance Teams** is turned on, new physical-buzzer players are automatically assigned to the team with the fewest players. You can adjust their teams before starting the game.\n\n## Submit Final Wager Round wagers and responses\n\nPhysical buzzers cannot be used to type a private wager or response. When you reach the Final Wager Round, select the QR-code icon in the **Submit your wagers!** box to show the Final Round QR code and URL.\n\nEach player opens that page on a phone or other device, selects their name, and submits their wager. If you are using teams, only one player from each team needs to use the page and submit for the team. After the clue is shown, they use the same page to submit the response. You can expand the QR code to make it easier for the room to scan.\n\n<figure class=\"help-screenshot\">\n <img src=\"/images/help/submit-final-round-wagers.jpg\" alt=\"Final Wager Round controls showing the QR-code icon in the Submit your wagers box\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" />\n</figure>\n\nFor the rest of the round, see [Setting up the Final Wager Round](/help/final-wager-round/).\n\n## Choosing physical buzzers\n\nAny buzzer that sends a unique keyboard keypress should work. If you are ordering a preconfigured set, ask the seller to map each buzzer to a different number key.\n\nWe have found the wireless tabletop buzzers from [AffordableBuzzers.com](https://affordablebuzzers.com?utm_source=buzzinga.io&utm_medium=help) easy to set up and use. Buzzinga is not affiliated with AffordableBuzzers.com.\n"

"contentMarkdown": "\n## How many players can join?\n\nBuzzinga Pro does not limit how many players can join a game. Whether you have 20, 100, or several hundred attendees, everyone can join from their own device.\n\nFor more than about 10 players, however, we recommend using teams. This is not a technical requirement—it usually creates a better experience for the group.\n\n## Choose individual or team play\n\nEvery attendee can play individually with their own buzzer and score. With a large group, though, there is so much competition to buzz in that some players may never answer a clue or score any points.\n\nTeams give everyone a shared result to care about. Players can still join and buzz from their own phones, but the points they earn accumulate toward their team's score. Even someone who never buzzes in successfully can follow their team's progress and feel included in the game.\n\nIndividual play can still work well if your format calls for it. Just keep in mind that the more individual players you add, the harder it becomes for every person to participate directly.\n\n## Set up teams for a large event\n\nUse Buzzinga's team play when multiple people on each team will join and buzz from their own phones. Their points will accumulate toward the team's shared score.\n\nTo create the teams:\n\n1. Open [**Manage Teams**](https://play.buzzinga.io/manage-teams).\n2. Enter a name in **New team name**, then select **Add team**.\n3. Repeat for each team you want to create.\n4. After players join, drag them from **Unassigned Players** into their teams. You can also drag players from one team to another.\n\nSee [Set up team play](/help/team-play/) for more information about assigning players and choosing your team settings.\n\nThen select the gear icon to open the **Settings** menu and review the **Teams** section. In particular, consider these settings:\n\n- **Auto Balance Teams:** Assigns each new player to the team with the fewest players. This is especially helpful when a large audience joins at once.\n- **Allow Players to Change Teams:** Lets players join, leave, or switch teams during the game. Leave this off if you want the host to control every assignment or want **Auto Balance Teams** to assign players without allowing them to move afterward.\n\nIf each group will share a single phone or buzzer, you do not need to create teams in Buzzinga. Have one person from each group join using the team name as their player name.\n\n## Use the host controller\n\nFor a large event, we recommend running the game with the [host controller](/help/host-controller/). Keep the main game board on the projector, television, or shared screen, then use the host controller from a separate device or private window.\n\nThis gives the audience a cleaner view without the host controls and other clutter, while the host still has everything needed to run the game.\n\n## Before the event\n\n- Decide whether everyone will play individually or as part of a team.\n- Review the team settings and turn on **Auto Balance Teams** if Buzzinga should assign players for you.\n- Prepare simple instructions explaining how attendees should join and how teams will be assigned.\n- Test the board, internet connection, display, and sound in the space you will use.\n- Ask someone to help late arrivals or troubleshoot devices while the host keeps the game moving.\n\nFor remote participants, see [Hosting a game on Zoom](/help/hosting-on-zoom/).\n"

Keep the main game board shared with the audience, then open the host controller on your phone, tablet, or a separate window that is not being shared. This gives participants a cleaner view without the host controls and other clutter.\n\nBefore participants arrive, test your microphone, speakers, game audio, and internet connection. Give everyone time to join before starting the first clue.\n\nWhen possible, players should watch Zoom on a computer or tablet and join Buzzinga from their phone. Choose a number of teams that is easy for the audience to follow and gives each team several people to support.\n\nFor a large event, create the teams ahead of time and consider using **Auto Balance Teams** so they stay as even as possible while participants join. See [Hosting a large event](/help/large-events/) for more planning recommendations.\n"
